Online protection.

by on Feb.06, 2008, under Innovative Technology

There are a lot of ways we use our cell phones today. I can hardly imagine how we managed without it before. In our era of high technologies it seams so easy to send or to receive massages, music, photos, to play games and to watch video, to order any product and make any payment through your cell phone and the internet. This is one of the most important innovations of our time, bringing substantial benefits to economies and societies, but also driving change in the way we live and work. The Internet is not confined to national borders and with its growth and progress the security risk factor rises as well.  The recent searches show that there are thousands of stolen credit cards are used everyday to make purchases online and the risk to be hit by fraud is still high. Sometimes when a customer uses a cell phone it is hard to trace and we have no idea if it was his telephone number or not. Regardless of the relationship you have with a customer, customer service can only stretch so far therefore you must protect yourself always.

There are different professional anti-fraud methods and some of them such as insurance policies or guaranteed chargeback protection could help you to protect your business from online fraud. For example if you have a small website where you sell hand-crafted clothing or something else it is worth  to use chargeback protection, simply by using service which will be deterring chargeback abusers. Besides that by querying the database you have chance to make informed decisions and minimize risk and economic loss. Usually chargeback protection companies charges a flat fee and a small percentage for every transaction it insures against loss. I hope this helps someone.

Mobile TV.

by on Dec.25, 2007, under Innovative Technology, Mobile Hobby, Mobile News

Do you know that henceforth with Mobile TV, you will never have to worry about missing your favorite shows because you have chance to view up 92 live Barclays Premier league matches on the move, to keep up the latest news, to enjoy MTV music videos while waiting for the train for example. American consumers are growing increasingly comfortable with the idea of viewing video – particularly television programming – on computers and mobile phones instead of a standard TV set, according to new research by ChoiceStream.

The survey, entitled “Video Trends in TV and Online Video,” found that 55% of adult internet users had watched television on a device other than their TV set. Younger people, aged 18-to-24, are leading the shift in viewing habits, with some 66% of them watching video on non-traditional devices.

Made-for-TV programming is now the most popular type of online content, and is watched by some 65% of online video users. Around 39% of users, meanwhile, watched user-generated video content.

Personal Computers are the most popular alternative to standard television sets, ChoiceStream found, with 36% of consumers watching TV on a PC. One third of these users say they watch at least four hours of online TV a week.

Microsoft Office Docx Format

by on Dec.15, 2007, under Innovative Technology, Microsoft

I upgraded Microsoft Office to the latest version recently and noticed that the default file format for saved documents had been changed to docx. My notebook with an older version of Microsoft Office was not able to load the docx documents properly and I was wondering what I could do to enable docx support in that old version of Office.

The article Ways to open Docx documents helped me tremendously. According to the article I only had to download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack to add docx support in my old version of Microsoft Office.

And the author of the article was right. After installing the package from Microsoft I was able to view the docx files in my old version of Office.

Free Online TV

by on Dec.13, 2007, under Gadgets, Innovative Technology, Inventions

I found an interesting site: Online TV. You can watch TV online! They claim to be the easiest way to watch TV online for free and they are called MyEasyTV.com. There are more than 380 television channels you can watch with a simple click of your mouse. Channels are sorted in categories, such as news, sports, movies, music, entertainment, educational… This is great, there are also business and travel channels there. If you open multiple windows you can watch as many channels as you want at once! This is really useful if you don’t have a TV set next to your computer or if you want to watch one TV channel on real TV and the other one on your “PC TV”.

Rollable Displays

by on Nov.23, 2007, under Innovative Technology, Inventions, Mobile Hobby, Mobile News

Polymer Vision is nominated as The 2007 Winner in Most Innovative Technology as a developer the world’s first rollable electronic display. For the first time in history a display can be rolled out to a greater size than the actual mobile device itself. It is easy to view, even in bright sunlight, and has significantly lower power requirements than an LCD display with backlight. Once the user has finished, the display can simply be rolled back into the device.
