The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is a smartphone developed by Sony Ericsson and is the latest release of the Xperia branded series of smartphones. The phone is running on the Android operating system and uses Android 2.3, the latest version, otherwise called Gingerbread. It is the first ever smartphone that is PlayStation certified which means that it can play PlayStation games, and currently there are around 50 of them that have been ported for this phone.
The public got their first glimpse of the phone in February 2011 when it was showcased at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Spain, though it will not be available for UK customers until 28th March.

The phone features a sliding section but rather than having a keyboard the slider is very similar to the PlayStation Portable Go (PSP Go). The hardware is somewhat of an improvement over the X10.
